6. Scheduling interviews
A recruiter who wishes to interview you will invite you to select an interview time by sending you an email message. (Click the image to enlarge it. The image shows the page on a large screen; its appearance is different on a small screen, like a phone.)
Clicking on the URL in the message will take you to a calendar page in AIMS that shows you the slots from which you can choose (which are all the ones the recruiter specified except the ones that other interviewees have already chosen). (If, when you click on the link, you are not logged in to AIMS, then you will be first directed to a login page.) In this example, several slots on Sunday January 4 are available.
Click on a slot to select it. It will then appear on the calendar.
If you hold you mouse over (desktop) or tap (phone) the event on the calendar, you'll see options to reschedule or cancel the interview.
If you click the link to reschedule an interview, the slot you previously chose, and all the other slots that are currently available, are indicated.
If you change your mind about rescheduling your interview, click "Cancel reschedule" near the top of the page.
If you cancel an interview, it will appear at the bottom of the page, as an "invitation to which you have not yet responded". At this point you can change your mind and choose a slot or irreversibly decline the request.
Now suppose you have scheduled a few interviews. Hold your mouse over (desktop) or tap (phone) an interview that is followed on the same day by another interview in a different hotel. Then you'll see a link to the walking directions to the next interview.
When you click the link, Google walking directions between the two locations appear in a new window.
Not all recruiters advertise on EJM. If you want to add to your calendar an interview with such a recruiter that you have arranged outside the system, click "Add non-EJM interview/event" near the top left of the screen (on a phone, first tap "Options"), fill in the resulting form, and click "Save".
You can of course add any event you want—perhaps, for example, you have a lunch appointment you want to appear on the calendar, so that you don't choose interview times that conflict with it.
When your schedule is complete, you may want to print it, either to paper or to a pdf file that you can take to the conference. To do so, click the link "Printable schedule" near the bottom of the page.
In some cases you may want to view your schedule in text format rather than on a calendar. To do so, click "Text version of schedule" near the top right of the page. In the text version, the links have the same functionality as the ones on the calendar; only the interface is different.
